What I Learned This Past Week 12.13.22
I’m sharing with whoever’s interested in what I learn as I try to remain clear-eyed about the opportunities for real estate and web3.
Did I miss important news or a great article this week? In the likely event I did, please shoot me an email (mark@hurstx.com) and let me know!

This Week’s Musings
I was in Seattle last week for the Housing Transformation Summit (HTS). If you don’t know about this event or have been putting off going then you’ve been missing out. While web3 was not a topic of discussion this year for home builders, I’m hopeful that it is next year. Perhaps they’ll even invite the author of a fledgling real estate web3 newsletter to speak on one of their panels. Hit me up John Galante 🤙
Informative Articles I Read
Blockchain As A Technology That Propels Multifamily Into The Future (Forbes) - I like the call to action for the multifamily sector to embrace blockchain now. I haven’t seen any examples of this, let me know if you have run across a really innovative multifamily utilizing blockchain.
Real Estate Was Always Skeptical Of Crypto. Blockchain Is Where The ‘Real Value Lies’ (Bisnow) - While the application of blockchain technology in real estate is a high growth area, for now, it remains largely in the realm of potential.
Evertas, the Leading Crypto Insurance Company, Closes $14 million Series A to Expand Capacity and Develop New Products and Standards (FinancialPost) - As I have such high regard for Charles Moldow at Foundation Capital as an investor, I wanted to highlight Evertas and what they are developing.
Podcasts/Events/Webinars/etc. That I Listened To
Didn’t run across any new ones this week.
Innovative Companies I Discovered
OpenBrix - Blockchain based property portal.
RealtySlices - Affordable marketplace for fractional real estate investing, bringing real estate sponsors and investors together on a trusted blockchain platform.
Weset - Weset maximizes blockchain and crypto technology to make global real estate more accessible, affordable, and liquid. (Note: I only see one property in Mexico listed, so this is probably one to watch in the future)
