This Week’s Musings
I had pretty much given up hope of getting the newsletter out this week after having spent the afternoon and evening without power as the Bay Area was lashed by a powerful atmospheric river. Fortunately the power did come on before midnight and I am able continue my streak of delivering the newsletter every Tuesday since I launched.
Informative Articles I Read

AI has ‘become a cost of entry’ for real estate (PlaceTech) - While this is a conclusion from a report on commercial real estate, the observation crosses all real estate asset classes.
No, AI Is Not “Disrupting” Architecture (TheNation) - Some fair points are raised here. But as with most areas, it’s more about what is coming rather than what is currently getting headlines that will bring true disruption.
How AI in proptech is driving innovation and sustainability in real estate (ConstructionWeek) - AI will dramatically improve sustainability during all phases of a real estate property’s lifecycle.
Podcasts/Events/Webinars/etc. That I Listened To
Leveraging AI + Data in CRE (CRE Collective) - If you are lucky enough to be in NY make sure to check this out. Featuring Elie Finegold at Crow Holdings and L.D. Salmanson at Cherre followed by presentations from EliseAI, Otso and Valcre + panel.
Innovative Companies I Discovered
Swapp - AI-powered construction documentation.
Cloze - Smart CRM and AI assistant focused on the real estate industry.

Web3/AI Announcements From Proptech Companies
Addressable Launches SmartCopy™, GPT3-Powered Real Estate Marketing Tool (BusinessWire) - I’ve been a long-time fan of Chris Tosswill and what he has built at Addressable. Applying AI to write the copy for robot/handwritten mail feels like the most natural extension of the platfrom.
Random But (un)Important Things I Stumbled On
London partygoers rave to AI-generated beats in a test studying whether AI can replace real DJs (FoxNews) - AI has come for the DJ.
Lego & Pokemon Are Making Their Way Into Blockchain & Digital Assets (Blockster) - Lego in the metaverse with Epic Games. Bring it on!
