The crypto winter is coming...time to hunker down and build
I’m sharing with whoever’s interested in what I learn as I try to remain clear-eyed about the opportunities for real estate and web3.

This Week’s Musings
It’s easy to dismiss the metaverse today. However, if you don’t jump in and participate while the rules are being written, you will miss it and be forever playing catchup.
Don’t waste a good crisis.
Informative Articles I Read
Reno To Experiment With Blockchain For Building Records (SmartCitiesWorld) - Great to read about this historical building registry pilot program being rolled out in Reno this summer. The Biggest Little City leading the move to web3!
Explaining Web3 To A Five Year Old (TikTok via LI) - Sometimes it’s just easier to boil it down to what’s really important (super cool hot dog skin).
The NFTs Are Coming! The NFTs Are Coming! (TIKI) - Intro to Data NFTs. I could see interesting applications of this for homeowners to generate better AVMs for their properties. From a transparency perspective, you will know who owns the NFT, but what data the NFT owns will be anonymous.
$26.5M NYC Building Listed on OpenSea (The Defiant) - This sale (should it go through) highlights the lack of integration between blockchain solutions and local authority systems that record the transfer of property.
The Metaverse & The Absence Of The Architect (LI) - Great points from MetaProp, there are going to be a lot of ugly metaverse developments. Do we need HOAs in the metaverse?
How Can Fractional NFTs Become A Revolutionary Revelation In The Web 3.0? World (Medium) - Just because you can fractionalize something doesn’t mean it makes sense. Not convinced the currently identified value props here are strong enough to drive much adoption of fractional NFTs.

Random But Important Things I Stumbled On
Web3 Is Not Dead. Here’s What Crypto Will Look Like In 2030 (Fortune) - With all the recent doom and gloom, it’s good to take a long-term view on what lies ahead for web3.
Mint NFTs on Salesforce’s NFT Cloud (SFDC) - Minting NFTs is now officially a commodity.
Colorado Governor Jared Polis Is Fundraising With NFTs (Axios) - Think it is only a matter of time before this is done by all candidates.
Will keep keeping a close eye on Reno using blockchain for building records. Sector in big need of innovation!
