I’m sharing with whoever’s interested in what I learn as I try to remain clear-eyed about the opportunities for real estate and web3.

This Week’s Musings
Despite continued fallout from the crypto meltdown, the march to web3 continues, both in the real estate space and outside of it. Lots of well known brands experimenting with ways to demonstrate their relevance in web3 or at a minimum, generate good headlines and social media chatter.
Inman Connect is also happening this week in Las Vegas. While I am not attending this year, I am anxious to hear if there is much discussion about web3 within the residential real estate community. If you were there and are reading this, please reach out and let me know what, if anything, you heard web3 related.

Web3 Announcements From Proptech Companies
DigiBuild secures $4M seed round for blockchain-based construction management platform (Refresh Miami) - Great to see the official announcement of my new friend Robert Salvador’s successful fundraising. Robert and I recorded an episode for the Proptech Espresso podcast recently (shameless plug) which will be dropping in the coming weeks. Be sure to check it out!
Random But Important Things I Stumbled On
Land-Based DAO Directory - Well worth checking this site out and bookmarking.
The Metaverse Is Already Broken (And How To Fix It — Chapter One) (Mirror) - This certainly won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but worth the read if you can stomach it.
Law Commission of England and Wales Sees Crypto as a New Type of Property (CoinDesk) - I included this article only as evidence that regulatory bodies are introducing proposals that will help guide and clarify the murkiness of web3.
Zed (digital racehorse ownership) - I stumbled upon Zed towards the end of 2021. While it has nothing to do with real estate (other than the virtual racing tracks), it was fun to run across this again as I had forgotten that this was built on blockchain technology.
