This Week’s Musings
It was a week full of interesting web3/real estate related content to digest. A protagonist announced a massive financing round setting the internet and my LI feed on fire. Setting this aside, more and more web3 applications are being applied to known web2 pain points. While some press releases come across as blatant attempts for headlines, one can’t dismiss the waves upon waves of innovation happen at the web3/real estate intersection.
Informative Articles I Read
How European countries are using blockchain to reform the land registration process (EmergingEurope) - From Sweden to Poland to Georgia, European countries are forging ahead and investing in blockchain to evolve land registry processes, making transactions faster, cheaper, and requiring less paperwork.
Tokenomics 101 (The DeFi Report) - I can only appreciate the information in this post now that I have three plus months of basic web3 knowledge under my belt. I will be sharing this post a lot going forward
Newly built Miami residential tower becomes bridge between cryptocurrency and real estate (Cointelegraph) - Luxury properties at the Elser Hotel & Residences Miami can be purchased with cryptocurrency through a partnership with FTX US.
A16z-backed Real Estate Firm to Dabble in Crypto: Report (Blockworks) - There was no way that this week’s issue wasn’t going to include a link out to something on Adam Neumann’s Flow. Found my hook when I read they are contemplating using cypto for a tokenized rewards program.
Guns N’ Roses Guitarist, Slash, Lists Beverly Hills Home For $8 Million—Or The Crypto Equivalent (Forbes) - Yes this article is total clickbait, but as a massive fan of ‘80s metal (shoutout to my friends Adam Jung and Chris Niemi) I had to include this article. Also, this pad is amazing, so you’re welcome!
Podcasts/Events/Webinars/etc. That I Listened To
Blueprint (September 12-14) - The second annual Blueprint conference is just around the corner and not to be missed. I’m happy to see a small but mighty group of web3/real estate companies speaking including Propy, Parcl, DigiShares, and hopefully others yet to be announced.
If you’re going, definitely reach out and let me know so we can connect in person.

Web3 Announcements From Proptech Companies
Sun West Mortgage boosts blockchain platform to streamline homebuying process (MPA) - Arguably more fintech than proptech, great to see established lenders pushing the envelope and deploying web3 solutions to ease known home buying/home selling pain points.
Random But Important Things I Stumbled On
Bored Apes, Moonbirds Have 'Misled' Buyers on NFT IP Rights: Galaxy Digital Report (Decrypt) - IP law is certainly not my specialty so I can’t opine one way or another on this. One has to wonder if the breakneck speed with which these NFT projects are (or have been) rolled out were done so without fully understanding the IP ownership regulations. Or were they done so intentionally as to provide enough legal wiggle room for these platforms to claim they aren’t at fault?
How to stop the metaverse from becoming the internet's bad sequel (TED) - The legal challenges of cross metaverse interoperability give me little hope this will ever happen.
Inside the absurd groundbreaking for Sho, San Francisco's ostentatious club-restaurant (SFGate) - Would you pay between $7,500 and $300,000 for an NFT membership to join a yet to be constructed Japanese fine dining restaurant in the middle of Salesforce Park?
